Fat Freezing

Fat Freezing is the destruction or removal of fat cells by freezing or cooling. The fat cells that are exposed to the cold will disintegrate in a process of natural cell death also known as ‘apoptosis’. Fat Freezing affects only fat cells since they are more sensitive to cold than other cells.

The fatty acids (lipids) that are released by this process are progressively eliminated by natural metabolic activities over the course of 1 – 4 months following the procedure. Some clients may see results sooner.

Usual areas where Fat Freezing is used include the stomach, legs, arms, hips, back fat, underneath bum, inner and outer thighs.

A hand piece (known as the ‘cryo cup’) is placed on the treated area. An anti-freeze membrane is placed between the cryo cup and skin to prevent any frostbite or skin damage. The cryo cup also contains a suction vacuum that will draw and hold the fatty bulge or tissue between two cooling plates. During the procedure, the specialist device (known as a ‘Lipo Ice’ machine) maintains the treatment temperature at -5°C. A Fat Freezing session lasts 30-40 minutes a session.

Results can take up to 8-12 weeks to show, however some clients see results as early as 3 weeks following treatment. We advise that you should not treat the same area until after 8 weeks.

Following treatment, we recommend that you avoid eating carbohydrates and drinking alcohol for the first 48 hours and that you follow a healthy balanced diet, as this will help destroy fat cells as quickly as possible.
